As we head towards the end of the year, it’s a great time to slow down, refresh and recharge. Taking a break from daily tasks and routine – even for a moment – is a great way to improve your mood and to provide a ‘circuit breaker’ from anxious or worrying thoughts, to help clear your mind. Here are three more ways you can slow down and relieve stress anywhere, at any time.
1. Look up
Take a few minutes to be present in the moment, go outside (or look out your window), and gaze at the sky. Spend a few minutes looking at passing clouds or enjoy watching the sun set or rise over the horizon. Let your mind wander while focusing on slowing down your breath and relaxing.
2. Stretch it out
Stretching our tense and stiff muscles is a simple way of releasing stress from our bodies. There’s no need to have any fancy equipment or visit a gym – try this free guided beginner yoga session at home.
3. Write it down
Writing down what we love, what’s been bothering us lately or anything else that’s on our mind, can help us organise our thoughts and even learn more about how we’re feeling. By reflecting on our thoughts, we might gain a new perspective. Set a timer for 2 minutes and let your thoughts flow!
